FAQ

How many sessions will I need?

The length of therapy varies based on your goals, life circumstances, and history. Some concerns may be addressed in a few sessions, while deeper work may take longer. A plan will be discussed during your initial session.

What do I do if my partner or family member does not want to come to therapy?

You can attend individual sessions to explore relationship patterns and where you may feel stuck. Change in one person can influence the dynamic and positively impact the relationship.

What is the confidentiality policy?

All client information is kept strictly confidential in accordance with CRPO regulations and will not be shared without written consent.

Exceptions include: suspected child abuse or neglect, court subpoenas, disclosure of abuse by a licensed professional, or if there is reason to believe you may pose a risk to yourself, others, or public safety.

 What is Registered Psychotherapist (RP)?

Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are not medical doctors but specialize in treating mental health concerns through psychotherapy. They typically hold graduate degrees, pursue ongoing professional development, and in Ontario are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Only those registered with the CRPO may use the title “Registered Psychotherapist.”

What is the cancellation policy?

Appointments are confirmed at the time of booking. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice so the appointment slot can be offered to another client.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, will be subject to a charge. The only exception to this policy is in the case of an emergency.

What to expect in the first therapy session?

You will have a chance to provide some background information, present your concerns, and set goals together with the therapist. Sometimes, referrals can be made to appropriate professionals or agencies in the community.

How do I prepare for my first session?

Do not worry about knowing what to say or do during the first session. We will most likely spend the first session getting to know each other. You do not have to leap into your deepest secrets immediately. Just feel free to talk about anything to get a sense of comfort in the session. Just trust your gut and follow your will.

What happens if you are late for the session?

It is best to arrive on time to benefit from the session. If you arrive late for the session, the session will continue to take place and finish at the originally scheduled time. The total amount for the session will remain the same.

Can you testify for me in court?

I am sorry, but it is our policy not to involve in any legal proceeding.
